9.3. Cluster Management

When operating an EasyAccess cluster, it is important that services, nodes and external dependencies are maintained and monitored closely. The aspects described below should be considered.

Node Communication

The ports required by the cluster nodes should be opened at all times and should not blocked by firewalls. Latency between cluster nodes should be kept as low as possible. Since the cluster nodes are constantly kept synchronized, the lower latency the better.

Brief network disturbances should not be a problem but consistent interference in communications between nodes can cause performance problems and in some cases system failure.

Time Synchronization Servers

It is essential that both nodes are using the same time synchronization servers so they have the same system time.

Restarting Node Services

Restarting of services or the entire node should not be done without monitoring. In cases where nodes need to be restarted, perhaps due to software updates, ensure that the nodes have time to re-establish cluster connections.

Verifying Logs

It is recommended to regularly verify that the cluster is operating correctly by looking at the system logs of either node. This can help identify any anomalies at an early stage.
