Appendix D: Apple Mac IP Setup

An Apple Mac can be used as the management workstation for initial setup of a Clavister Firewall. To do this, a selected Ethernet interface on the Mac must be configured correctly with a static IP. The setup steps for this with Mac OS X are:

  1. Go to the Apple Menu and select System Preferences.

  2. Click on Network.

  3. Select Ethernet from the left sidebar menu.

  4. Select Manually in the Configure pull down menu.

  5. Now set the following values:

    • IP Address: 192.168.1.30
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Router: 192.168.1.1

  6. Click Apply to complete the static IP setup.
